Adler Jane, Therapy Dog
Adler is a trained and certified therapy dog. She and Christine are a registered Therapy Dog Team with Alliance of Therapy Dogs and volunteer around town on occasion. She doesn't visit the office as often as Ivy does because her knees often need extra rest at home.
Adler loves sock monkeys, anything with peanut butter, and meeting new people of all ages and personalities. She especially loves to show people how sweet and silly pitbulls are.
Our world is a busy, complicated place full of impersonal demands and unrealistic expectations. Living our lives on full display in the digital age can make it even more difficult to find true authenticity, peace, and fulfillment. We need the opportunity to pause and reflect on what we truly want for ourselves and for our families, and the reminder to be intentional about how our energy and gifts are being used in pursuit of our passion and purpose. Counseling offers this opportunity for self-examination, allowing us the chance to assess our own emotional health and interactions with others, expand coping skills, develop personal strengths, and solidify and repair relationships.
The challenges faced by kids and teens today are not so different from those we face in our adult lives. Without the autonomy that comes with adulthood, there is an added element of helplessness for kids and teens, and this lack of control makes life’s unexpected twists and turns seem even more difficult to handle. We can’t control the world around us, but we can equip ourselves and our kids with the support and skills needed to thrive in the midst of chaos. We can enjoy rich relationships, a solid sense of our own intrinsic value, and successful futures as balanced, emotionally resilient members of our families and communities.
Ivy, Therapy Dog
Ivy is a trained and certified therapy dog and spends time in the office a few days each week. She and Christine are a registered Therapy Dog Team and volunteer after hours with law enforcement, healthcare clinics, local schools, and on campus at WMU.
Ivy is a mini goldendoodle, so she is a perfect friend for those with allergies. She loves to scoot balls with her nose and is building a collection of retired tennis balls and baseballs gifted to her by clients.
